Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
